the 'tasik maniam' expedition....

  • Catch of the day..hahahah..
  • all rods were near pintal's rod no get some luck.....
  • abang, the lone ranger fisherman

  • from left: pintal, mat, milin & abang
  • 'tasik maniam' is located in the inland of the batang berjuntai district area...the fishing spot is recognized as the home for many species of 'patin'...it started as a mining site during the british era and evolved to become a lake after mining activities were stopped... the lake then was used for fishery activities in breeding the 'patin species'..The breeding of it ended as the lake flooded due to heavy rain that caused to the escape of the spesies..i was also told that although it was a great loss to the fish farmers, they discontinued the breeding activities due to low demand for patin fish during that time.....
  • on 4th of september, we had an expedition to this site in hunting the patin species...guided by 'pintal', our friend who is a local resident there, we headed to the location around 12pm...our intention was to go there by car, but after being advised on the poor condition of the road track, we resorted to 3 motorbikes..the journey took about half an hour of passing oil palm estates before reaching the lake..
  • 12.30pm : took our fishing gears and started for the hunting...known to many, we used 'dedak ayam' as our official bait for that day...patin fish is a devotee to 'dedak ayam, but it's a matter of how well it is mixed with other ingrediants that will attract them..but i was a little pissed off as we left behind some important fishing gears......
  • 3 hours of waiting, still no sign of the patin...we shifted spot...still nothing.....Suddenly, pintal's rod bended...he reacted immediately but disappointment shrouded us all as the fish managed to escape...the we only notice that that pintal used 'gardenia bread' for his bait..hahah..patin's appetite gone wrong????
  • around 4pm, milin landed a belida ...followed by ikan putih...he was very proud of himself that day as he was the only one manage to landed some fish....although the fish he caught were fish of size 'S' ...hehehe..
  • a bit dissapointing that day..no luck, no patin, no big fish...6pm, we headed home...........
